The brother and sister were among as many as eight siblings who learned they were being placed into foster care with the Illinois Department of Family Services. Rather than go live with DCFS, Ruben and Mia decided to leave the rest of their family on their own, according to police.

'Worst-Kept Secret In Academia': Northwestern Law Sued For Alleged Anti-White Man Bias
A suit filed by a conservative group on behalf of a trio of anonymous professors alleges that the university has violated civil rights laws. They say that have not applied for jobs with the university allegedly because they are "unable to compete on an equal basis with faculty candidates who are women, racial minorities, homosexuals, or individuals who engage in gender-nonconforming behavior or identify with a gender that departs from their biological sex."

'She's An Angel': Woman Honors Teacher Who Saved Her Life
After her father took his own life and she began struggling with mental health, the then-seventh-grader turned to someone she could trust: longtime teacher Kim Klappauf. The veteran educator was humble about her role in helping her student through her struggles, saying, "I didn’t do anything in particular, I was just there ... You just want to be there for the students—I mean, that’s our job," she said. "... To take care of them. Moms and dads, whoever the caregivers are—they entrust the teachers to take care of their children every day. And they trust us to do that. If you can make a connection for the kid, and help them through difficulty, I think that’s awesome.
