Severe Storms Possible This Week In Chicago Area
Severe storms will develop over Iowa and Missouri on Friday afternoon, and move northeast toward Illinois, the weather service said.
ILLINOIS — A "powerful storm system" will impact the Chicago area Friday into Saturday; but before that, we have a few days of very mild temps to enjoy, according to the National Weather Service.
The high for Wednesday is 68, 72 on Thursday and 76 on Friday. It will be colder near the lake, as winds keep temps in the 40s, the weather service said.
Before a possible storm threat on Friday night, strong winds will roll into the area on Friday afternoon and evening. The weather service said wind gusts over 55 mph are possible.

There is a chance of severe storms with damaging winds on Friday night for the Chicago area; however, the track of storms is still uncertain.
Severe storms will develop over Iowa and Missouri on Friday afternoon, and move northeast toward Illinois and northwest Indiana, according to the weather service.

"There is uncertainty how far east storm will get before dissipating, but there is growing concern for a potential severe weather threat Friday night," the weather service said.
The timing for the storms would be between 8 p.m. on Friday and 3 a.m. on Saturday.
