Temps Drop, Chance For Storms In Chicago Area

Highs drop to the 70s or low 80s this week, with the chance of storms most days.

ILLINOIS — After a rainy, stormy weekend that produced tornadoes in Naperville, Manhattan and the Joliet area, temperatures have cooled off this week, with highs in the 70s to low 80s expected most of the week.

A weather system could bring storms to the far south end of the Chicago area late Monday night into Tuesday morning.

AccuWeather is calling for nice weather Tuesday, with some sun and low probability of thunderstorms during the day.

There will also be a chance of storms Wednesday into Thursday.

The National Weather Service is warning beach-goers of dangerous swimming conditions, especially at Northwest Indiana beaches on Lake Michigan. Breaking waves of 2 to 4 feet and potentially hazardous currents could pose a risk to swimmers.

Swimmers are advised to stay away from dangerous areas like piers and breakwalls, obey posted signs and closures and have a flotation device with them in the water.
