Thunderstorms & Sunshine: IL Weather A Mixed Bag This Week

The coolest day of the week will be Monday; temperatures will then warm into the 70s for the rest of the week.

ILLINOIS — The work week will start chilly but will have above average temperatures for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday will be windy, cloudy and have a high of 58. However, temperatures will quickly warm up starting Tuesday. Tuesday will have a high of 76, Wednesday a high of 79, Thursday a high of 79 and Friday a high of 75.

The weather service said there are occasional chances for showers and storms this week.

Monday was expected to be dry, but the forecast does call for a chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. The weather service said the highest chances of storms are mainly north of Interstate 88 during the afternoon and north of Interstate 80 on Tuesday night.

Wednesday should be dry again; however, the chance of rain returns on Thursday in the afternoon and evening. Friday also features a likely chance of showers and storms, mainly after 1 p.m., according to the current forecast.
