These IL Communities Are Among America's 10 Richest Retirement Towns: Ranking
Three Chicago suburbs and one downstate community made the list of 50 towns.
ILLINOIS — Lake Forest and Northbrook are among the nation’s richest retirement towns, according to a recent ranking from GOBankingRates.
To determine the ranking, the personal finance website used U.S. Census American Community Survey data for cities with populations over 15,000 people and senior populations of 25 percent or higher. The ranking also includes median income and livability index, according to GOBankingRates.
At No. 2 on the list, Lake Forest's median household income is $228,120, the website reported, while at No. 7, Northbrook's median income is $155,321.

Saratoga, California, was first on the list and had a median household income of $241,348, according to GOBankingRates.
Other Illinois towns included in the ranking were Westchester at 40th with a median income of $103,561 and downstate Godfrey at 50th with a median of $92,746.
