The severe storm threat is expected between 3 and 8 p.m. Wednesday. The weather service advised staying tuned to forecasts and having multiple ways to get weather warnings.

After storms move out of the area, "wet, wind-whipped snow" is expected late Wednesday, especially near and north of Interstate 80. The weather service said this could lead to some hazardous travel conditions in some parts of the area during the Thursday morning commute.
