ILLINOIS — Former President Donald Trump will appear at a political rally next weekend in Illinois, campaigning for U.S. Rep. Mary Miller, who is facing a challenge in the June 28 primary election.

Trump will make the appearance at the Adams County Fairgrounds on June 25, the former president confirmed Thursday. The Secret Service is expected to arrive at the fairgrounds, near downstate Quincy, on Monday.

Miller is facing a Republican challenge from 13th District Rep. Rodney Davis after the redistricting plan put them both in Illinois’ 15th District.

Trump’s Save America PAC confirmed the rally will take place to push for Miller, and the former president is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. It is not known whether any of the GOP gubernatorial candidates will appear at the rally.

Trump has not endorsed any of the Republicans who are vying to face off against Gov. J.B. Pritzker in November.

In a statement, Davis — who has supported Trump in the past — said he is proud of his conservative record and working with Trump when he was in office. He also said he looked forward to “investigating the security failures” leading up to the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol and finding out if Speaker Nancy Pelosi had a role in those failures. He also called the “sham Select Committee” a circus.

But he then turned his attention to his opponent, whom Trump is coming to Illinois to stump for.

“I would hope President Trump and Republican voters are aware of the baggage Mary Miller has, including a convicted pedophile serving as her personal driver, her rhetoric encouraging illegal immigration, her vote with the Socialist Squad to defund the military, and her close ties to an anti-Trump Super PAC. Time and again, Mary Miller has put America last in Congress.”

Miller was caught on video shortly after she was elected giving a speech in which she said that "Hitler was right on one thing," putting attention on the need to get youth involved in supporting Republicans in future elections. The comment came as she spoke at a rally outside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 5, 2021.
