Salvi Declares Victory, Eyes Duckworth: IL Primary Election Results
Lake County attorney Kathy Salvi was projected as the GOP primary winner for U.S. Rep. after she captured more than 30 percent of the vote.

ILLINOIS — Like much of the crowded field of candidates seeking to gain the Republican nomination for the Illinois U.S. Senate seat held by Tammy Duckworth, Kathy Salvi based her chances of winning on a conservative foundation that believes America can do better than Joe Biden.
Salvi, the 63-year-old Mundelein attorney will now see if that works in her bid to defeat Duckworth in the November general election. Salvi entered Tuesday's primary election with perhaps the most name recognition among Illinois voters and used that pre-election momentum to declare herself the winner with more than 90 percent of votes counted.
CNN projected Salvi as the winner in Tuesday's primary election, based on unofficial results.
