'Unseasonable Warmth' Friday Before Temperature Drop Hits Chicago Area

ILLINOIS — An elevated fire weather risk is expected Friday, as dry conditions and wind gusts up to 30 mph are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

The windy weather will result in the elevated risk for rapid spread of brush and grass fires on Friday afternoon, the weather service said.

"Unseasonable warmth" is also expected Friday, which will have a high of 86 degrees, the weather service said. The summer-like temperatures won't last long, however, as a temperature drop is expected to start the work week.

Scattered showers are possible on Saturday, with a chance of isolated afternoon storms, the weather service said. Saturday will still be fairly warm, with highs in the low 80s possible.

Sunday will be breezy again, with a high of 72.

"Temperatures drop early next week, with potential frost and freeze concerns away from the city," the weather service said on its Facebook.

According to the current forecast, the high for Monday is 57, with a high of 54 on Tuesday.
