Warming Trend Through Mid-Week, Before 60s Return To IL
September marks the start of meteorological fall.

ILLINOIS — After a cooler weekend, the weather will warm back up through mid-week before cooling again for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Weather will also remain "quiet" at the start of the week before rain chances return Thursday night.
Tuesday will have a high of 78, Wednesday a high of 83, and Thursday will be the warmest day of the week with a high of 87, according to the weather service forecast.

Friday will be cooler than Thursday with a high of 76, and the highs for both Saturday and Sunday are only in the 60s.
Chances of rain begin Thursday night, with rain and possibly a storm possible early Friday. Rain chances continue all day Friday, with a possibility on Saturday as well, according to the weather service forecast.

September also marks the start of meteorological fall. The weather service said that August 2024 ended with "near to slightly above normal temperatures with below normal precipitation." The average temperature for Chicago was 74.8 degrees, which is one degree above normal.
