Waves Of Storms Possible, 'Seasonable Summertime' Weather For Illinois

Several waves of storms are possible starting Monday night through Tuesday night.

ILLINOIS — "Seasonable summer time weather" is expected this week for the Chicago area, the National Weather Service said.

Temperatures will be mostly in the 80s, with periods of showers and storms throughout the week. Storms are possible late Monday into early Wednesday, and again on Friday, according to the weather service.

Monday will have a high of 88 degrees, and should be dry and sunny through the day, according to the current forecast. Tuesday will be the warmest day of the week with a high of 92, Wednesday will have a high of 83, Thursday a high of 80 and Friday a high of 85.

Waves of thunderstorms may start Monday night through Tuesday night.

"With building heat and humidity levels, any storm may be severe with damaging winds and torrential downpours," the weather service said on its Facebook.

If storms don't develop on Monday night, Tuesday could have dangerous heat, with peak heat index values above 100, according to the weather service.

Conditions should dry out again on Wednesday and Thursday, with storms returning on Friday.
