Authorities say her ex-boyfriend hit her in the back of the head twice with a baseball bat before shooting her in the stomach at his town home while their 3-year-old daughter was present. Her friends urged victims and supporters to speak out about domestic violence: " You are not alone, and there is support available."

Feds Investigating IL Sheriff's Office After Sonya Massey Shooting

Authorities are looking into "serious concerns about (the sheriff's office's) interactions with Black people and people with behavioral health disabilities." Sonya Massey was fatally shot by a deputy after calling police while dealing with mental health struggles. The deputy is now facing murder charges.

Child Charged After School Shooting Threat, Showing Shotgun On Call: Police

He made the threat while riding a school bus home Wednesday after an altercation with other students, according to police, then got the gun from his house and got on a video call with a student involved in the earlier altercation.
