1 Person Flown To Hospital Following Crash In McHenry County: Police

The collision happened on Kreutzer Road near Huntley Monday morning.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — One person was seriously injured and flown to a hospital Monday morning following a one-vehicle collision in McHenry County Monday morning.

The Huntley Fire Protection District and Huntley Police Department was called to Kreutzer Road near the railroad tracks at about 8:05 a.m. for a reported water rescue, according to authorities. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found a vehicle that had traveled through a guardrail, rolled onto its side and came to rest down an embankment along the creek bed.

The vehicle was not submerged and the water rescue was called off but a man had become trapped inside the vehicle with serious injuries, according to a news release from the fire protection district. Firefighters extricated the man from the vehicle and took him to the helipad at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley.

A helicopter then transported him to a Rockford hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
