CARPENTERSVILLE, IL — Two young children died Sunday in a house fire in Carpentersville, according to authorities.

Emergency personnel responded shortly after 9:30 a.m. to the 1700 block of Kingston Circle, where they found the house on fire with occupants inside, authorities said.

Two children estimated to be under 5 were trapped and died, according to Carpentersville Fire Department Chief Bill Anaszewicz, who said two dogs also perished. Two other occupants — including a third child — were taken to the hospital and another two people refused hospital transport, the chief said, adding the house was a total loss.
