Route 59 Closed Following Crash That Sent 3 To Hospital

The collision happened on Route 59 south of Golfview Drive in North Barrington Thursday morning.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Three people were injured, including one who was critically injured, in a two-vehicle, head-on crash on Route 59 in North Barrington Thursday morning.

The collision happened on Route 59 south of Golfview Drive in North Barrington at about 11:15 a.m. Thursday after a Ford van was headed north on Route 59 and crossed the centerline, crashing head-on with a southbound Subaru passenger vehicle, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Both drivers were taken to area hospitals. A passenger in the Subaru, a 70-year-old Lake Barrington woman, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to authorities.

The driver of the Ford, a 23-year-old Round Lake Heights man, and the driver of the Subaru, a 78-year-old Lake Barrington man, both sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening, Matthew Harmon, a detective sergeant with the Lake County Sheriff's Office, told Patch in an email response.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office is investigating the collision, and Route 59 was closed following the crash as police investigate.
