6 Horses Die In McHenry County Barn Fire
The blaze broke out Sunday night at a barn near Harvard.
HARVARD, IL — Six horses died in a barn fire in McHenry County Sunday night.
The blaze broke out at a barn in the 19100 block of Crowley Road in unincorporated Harvard at about 12 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Harvard Fire Protection District. Firefighters arrived within 10 minutes and found a heavy fire coming from a 50-by 60-foot pole barn, with the blaze getting closer to a much larger barn nearby.
It took firefighters about 60 minutes to get the blaze under control, and six horses inside the barn died in the blaze.

No firefighters or residents were injured in the fire. The barn and its contents are considered a total loss, fire officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Harvard Fire Protection District.
