Algonquin Founders' Days Begins

Carnival for special kids and cardboard boat regatta open the festivities today, Thursday, July 25.

Today's the big day!

The 53rd Annual Algonquin Founders' Days begins Thursday afternoon and runs through Sunday, July 28. Founders' Days offers live entertainment, food, carnival rides, fireworks show, parade and social garden - just to name a few of the events.

This year, organizers have packed in a lot of extras, taking advantage of the additional acreage offered by Algonquin Lakes Park, the site of the 2013 fest.

Algonquin Lakes Park is located behind Algonquin Lakes School, 1401 Compton Ln., on the east side of Algonquin. Look for the big "Founders Days" banners near Sandbloom Road to find your way to Algonquin Lakes Park.

Parking is available at the school and on nearby streets. Plus, a free shuttle bus service from St. Margaret Mary's Church will be provided on Friday and Saturday evening.
