MARENGO, IL — Five people were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash near Marengo on Sunday morning.

The first vehicle ended up in the roadway following the crash while the second vehicle came to rest in a ditch and became "entangled in a utility pole wire," fire officials said.

ComEd was also called to the scene, Alex Vucha, public information office for the fire district, told Patch.
"While the utility pole itself was not damaged, the guide wire supporting the pole was damaged in the crash. We wanted to be safe rather than sorry, so ComEd came out to check their equipment and make sure everything was in good shape," he said.
