Algonquin Library Offers 'Food for Fines' Program

Get rid of overdue fines at the Algonquin Area Public Library by donating non-perishable food items.

Have you got overdue fines at the Algonquin Area Public Library?

Well, the library has come up with a way for patrons to donate their way out of a "fine mess."

The library will offer its Food for Fines  program from Nov. 25 through Dec. 8. When library users donate non-perishable food items, the library will waive any overdue fines for AAPLD materials, according to AAPLD website.

The Food for Fines program will accept donated food at both library locations, 2600 Harnish Dr. on the west side of the village and 115 Eastgate Dr. on the east side.

The donations collected will be distributed through Hearts of Gold.
