Algonquin Trustee Candidate Booted From Spring Ballot
There will be no challengers in the Algonquin Village Board race.

ALGONQUIN, IL — There are now no challengers in the Algonquin Village Board race after candidate Julie Bevel was removed from the ballot for not having enough verified signatures for her nomination papers.
Shaw Local News Network is reporting John Cygan, an Algonquin resident, filed the objection due, in part, to some of the signatures Bevel filed with her nomination papers being from residents living outside the village limits of Algonquin. Ten signatures were nixed from Bevel's petition, leaving her with 146 total signatures.
A total of 156 signatures are needed to run. Bevel told Shaw Local News Network she did not learn about the chance to run for trustee until late October and got all of her required signatures in 11 days.

“I’m learning. I did my best. I would be fully committed to this position,” she said. “I understand rules are rules.”
There will be no challengers running for the three trustee seats in the spring election. Those running for election include incumbent trustees Robert Smith, Laura Brehmer and Jerry Glogowski.
