Carpentersville Man Caught With 16 kg Of Cocaine Sentenced

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A Carpentersville man has been sentenced to 16 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to felony unlawful possession with intent to deliver cocaine, Patrick Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announced, according to a news release from the state's attorney's office. Ivan Moreno-Gollegos, 20, was sentenced by McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge for the incident authorities said took place in 2018, according to the news release.

Moreno-Gollegos was stopped on Route 31 between Lake in the Hills and Algonquin on Sept. 20, 20108, and during the stop it was confirmed he was helping transport and sell 16 kilograms of cocaine, the news release said.

Members of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the McHenry County Sheriff’s office investigated the case, and it was prosecuted by Brian Miller of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s office.
