BARRINGTON, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 17-year-old Barrington girl who was killed when she was hit by a Metra train as Marin Lacson.

Lacson was walking to school when she was accidentally hit by the train near Main Street and Hough Street in downtown Barrington, wrote Barrington District 220 Superintendent Craig Winkelman in a letter to parents. She was attempting to cross the tracks after a first train passed but was then struck by a second train passing through the area.

Lacson was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary results from an autopsy show she died from blunt force injuries as a result of the incident, according to the coroner's office new release.
