Coroner IDs North Barrington Man Killed After Being Hit By Car
Results from an autopsy have revealed Craig Kizer died from blunt force injuries as a result of the collision Tuesday night.
NORTH BARRINGTON, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified the 65-year-old North Barrington man who was found dead along Route 22 Tuesday night.
Results from an autopsy have revealed Craig Kizer, of North Barrington, died from blunt force injuries as a result of the incident, according to a news release from the coroner's office. Authorities say Kizer was walking on the south shoulder of the roadway near Rainbow Road at about 7 p.m. when he was hit by a 2013 Ford Explorer, which was driven by a 47-year-old Geneva man.
Kizer was wearing dark-colored clothing at the time of the collision, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies from the Lake County Sheriff's Office arrived at the crash scene they found Kizer dead along the ditch line, according to authorities. The driver of the Ford was not injured and immediately called 911 after the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
