ALGONQUIN, IL — The District 300 school board has voted to remove school board president Nancy Zettler from her seat.

The school board voted 5-1 to remove Zettler from the board during a special meeting Thursday night, according to the Daily Herald.

The blowback from parents and the school district came after Zettler said she would not apologize following A Facebook post where she noted that her initial reaction to Charlie Kirk's death was "karma.”

The post read, "The first thing I thought when I heard this today was ‘karma, it’s a (expletive).’ Then I read this. The author, Qasim Rashid, says it best.” The post from Rashid centered around the need for empathy following Kirk's assassination.

During the Thursday school board meeting, the board decided not to censure Zettler, the Daily Herald is reporting.
