D300 School Board President In Hot Water Over Charlie Kirk Social Media Post

ALGONQUIN, IL — A protest drew dozens to the District 300 administration building Monday as some parents are calling on school board president Nancy Zettler to step down following a social media post she shared regarding Charlie Kirk's death.
The post read, "“The first thing I thought when I heard this today was ‘karma, it’s a (expletive).’ Then I read this. The author, Qasim Rashid, says it best.” The post from Rashid centered around the need for empathy following Kirk's assassination.
Parents within District 300 say Zettler's post was insensitive, the Daily Herald is reporting. And around 60 people gathered outside the D300 administration building in Algonquin on Monday morning, as well as the intersection of Harnish and Randall roads, to protest

“She felt compelled to put her negativity out first… that’s coming from her,” said parent Linda Prestia. “She should step down.”
At least one other school board member, Steve Fiorentino, also shared his sentiments on the matter, stating he was "disgusted and disturbed" by Zettler's post.

"I want to be clear, these words and sentiment in now way represent my beliefs or values," he said in a Facebook post.
