David Letterman, Al Franken Team Up to Help IL Senate Candidate

Tammy Duckworth is hoping to bolster her campaign against incumbent IL Senator Mark Kirk with the help of her celebrity friends.

Illinois Senate Candidate Tammy Duckworth is getting some high-profile support for her Oct. 25 New York City fundraiser, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

Former talk show host David Letterman and Minnesota Senator Al Franken are slated to headline Duckworth’s “serious fun” event at the home of Alex Soros, son of George Soros, who is purportedly one of the richest men in the world. The potential money will come in handy as Duckworth is currently running against lawyer Andrea Zopp to replace IL Senator Mark Kirk, who has also been active on the fundraising front.

This is the second time Franken has lent his support to Duckworth, following a Martha’s Vineyard fundraiser event earlier this year.
