Driver, Passenger Escape I-90 Van Fire: Authorities

HUNTLEY, IL — No one was injured when a van became fully engulfed in flames along Interstate 90 in Huntley on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The blaze was first reported at about 3:20 p.m. on eastbound I-90 near mile marker 44.5, according to a news release from the Huntley Fire Protection District. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found the van fully engulfed in flames, which was found on the shoulder directly under the Hennig Road overpass and had a trailer attached that was loaded with DJ equipment.

Two adult occupants were able to get out of the van before emergency crews arrived and were not injured, fire officials said.

The van was completely burned and the attached trailer sustained only minor damage in the fire.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
