State Senator Karen McConnaughay (R-St. Charles) and State Senator Pam Althoff (R-McHenry) will partner on April 16 for a community forum in Algonquin to discuss the status of education funding reform in Illinois.
“Last fall, we started a dialogue in the suburbs about the issue of education funding, and this spring we want to continue to work toward a real, meaningful overhaul of how we fund education in Illinois,” McConnaughay said in a written release. “This year’s forum focuses on two new proposals, Senate Bill 1 – the new version of last year’s Senate Bill 16 – and the Illinois Vision 20/20 policy platform, and how they would affect suburban students and taxpayers.”
The community forum is open to the public and will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., April 16 at the District 300 Central Office Administration Building, 2550 Harnish Drive in Algonquin. The office is next to Jacobs High School.

Information on how Senate Bill 1 and Vision 20/20-backed legislation, Senate Bill 1403, will affect suburban schools and property taxpayers will be the focus of the forum, and attendees will be given the opportunity to submit questions or concerns to panel participants.
“It is important that we stay vigilant on this issue and keep suburban residents informed about the proposals that are on the table for consideration this spring,” Althoff said in a written release. “I encourage suburban residents to join us in the discussion and help us in protecting the interests of suburban students, educators, administrators and property taxpayers.”
