Elderly Woman Dies In Hospital After Weekend Crash: Police
The collision happened Sunday morning near Union. The 89-year-old Minnesota woman died at an area hospital, police said.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — An elderly Minnesota woman critically injured in a collision in rural McHenry County over the weekend has died, police said Monday.
The woman, whose name has not yet been publicly released, was riding as a passenger in a 2016 Mazda CX-5, which collided head-on with a 2007 Kia Sportage in the 17100 block of Illinois Route 176 near Union on at about 9:25 a.m. on Sunday, authorities said. The woman, who is from Woodbury, Minnesota, was taken to Northwestern Hospital in Huntley and later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Mazda, a 64-year-old Crystal Lake woman, was taken to Northwestern Hospital in McHenry in stable condition, police said.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Kia, a 40-year-old Marengo man, did not require medical treatment. Meanwhile, two passengers in the Kia, a 17-year-old from Marengo and a 37-year-old Marengo man, were both taken to local hospitals in good condition.
Snowy conditions and the weather is believed to have been a factor in the crash, authorities said. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
