Family Dog Dies In Algonquin House Fire
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District said no injuries were reported, but unfortunately the family dog did not survive.
ALGONQUIN, IL — A family dog was killed Friday in an Algonquin house fire, the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District said in a news release. According to the department, fire crews were dispatched to the home in the 1650 block of Heather Drive, and arrived just after 7:20 p.m. to the sight of heavy flames coming from the front of the two-story home. Firefighters launched an aggressive attack, getting the fire under control at 8:05 p.m., and soon declaring it out at 8:42 p.m., the department said.
While there were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported, the department said that unfortunately, the family dog didn't surive the fire.
According to a news release, crews stayed at the scene until 10:30 p.m. to investigate and search for hot spots. However, officials said the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, and a damage estimate isn't available.

According to the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, assisting crews included those of the Crystal Lake Fire Department, Cary Fire Protection District, Carpentersville Fire Protection District, McHenry Township Fire Protection District, Fox River Grove Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District and Wauconda Fire Protection District.
