Person Fatally Struck By Train Was Barrington High School Student
The incident happened Thursday morning in downtown Barrington.

BARRINGTON, IL — The female who was fatally struck by a Metra train in downtown Barrington Thursday morning was a Barrington High School student.
The incident happened at about 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Hough Street and Main Street, according to a news release from the village of Barrington. When officers arrived, they found the female — whose identity and age has not yet been released — with "fatal injuries."
The Chicago Tribune is reporting the student was waking to school when she was accidentally hit by the train, according to District 220 Superintendent Craig Winkelman. It's not clear yet what her grade level is.

"The student’s family has been notified and is receiving support," according to Winkelman.
No one else was injured in the incident. The Barrington Police Department and the Metra Police Department are investigating the fatality.
