Former Daycare Worker Guilty In Sex Assault Of Students

The Carpentersville man entered guilty pleas to charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Kane County Circuit Court.

KANE COUNTY, IL — A 58-year-old former daycare teacher has pleaded guilty to allegations he sexually assaulted two students in his classroom.

Frank R. Walaitis, of the 200 block of West Main Street in Carpentersville, entered guilty pleas to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Kane County Circuit Court.

Authorities say Wapitis sexually abused the two students in his classroom at The Learning Tree, 2325 Royal Boulevard in Elgin, between December 2008 and July 2022. The students were under the age of 13 years old, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

At the time of both incidents, Walaitis was working as a teacher at the local daycare, and both children were his students.

Walaitis will be required to register for life as a sex offender.

The Kane County Child Advocacy Center and Elgin Police Department investigated the allegations against Walaitis. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Detective Nick Kozicki at the Child Advocacy Center at 630-444-3184.
