Fundraiser for Nejmeh Family, National Night Out, Blast on the Beach

A look at what's happening for the week ahead, Aug. 5, 2013.

Greetings Algonquin and Lake in the Hills residents on this Monday, Aug. 5.

Summer feels like it's quickly slipping away - with everyone's thoughts turning to back-to-school shopping, registering for high school and getting the older ones prepared to leave for college.

The cooler temperatures only add to the feeling of fall.

Before you get too caught up in the busy "school, sports and extra curricular" schedules, take time to enjoy one last summer bash at the "Blast on the Beach," scheduled for this Saturday in Crystal Lake.

If you have kids, bring them to the Kids Fair and Treasure Hunt at the Blast - big hit last year. Plus, there'll be live music, food to buy, crafters to see and other vendors. And, admission is free- for everyone!

Another great event is the miniature golf fundraiser for the Tom Nejmeh family of Algonquin. Tom died unexpectedly in April, and his friends, Christina and Mike Gallagher of Crystal Lake, are holding the fundraiser to help Tom's family. The Gallaghers described Tom as a "family man, lover of sports and sole provider for his family."

More information about the Week Ahead is below. Have a great one!
