​Man, Two Teens Suspected In Lake Of The Hills Home Invasion

The suspects face charges including aggravated robbery, theft and criminal defacement.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Three people are facing charges after breaking into an occupied home in Lake in the Hills and stealing items including a BB gun, police in Lake in the Hills said in a news release on Monday.

One man and two teenage boys are suspected of breaking into a home in the 0-100 block of Grant Avenue through the front door around 10:30 p.m. last Wednesday, according to the release.

The victim, who was home at the time and told police he or she knew one of the intruders, reported seeing the suspects flee in a dark sedan.

Police spotted the sedan nearby and made a traffic stop, identifying 26-year-old Tavares L. Fowler, of Carpentersville, as the driver. Three other passengers were also in the car, including two teenage who were arrested.

Authorities said stolen property, including a BB gun that was used in the incident, were also found in the car.

Fowler was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and theft. As of Monday, he was being held at McHenry County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

The 17-year-old teenager was charged with theft, home invasion, aggravated robbery and residential burglary. He is also charged with possession of a controlled substance and criminal defacement for allegedly damaging a jail holding cell, police said.

The 14-year-old suspect faces charges of home invasion, aggravated robbery, residential burglary and theft.

Both teenagers were taken to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center, police said. Police do not release the identity of minors. It was not clear as of writing how the teens knew Fowler.

The victim was uninjured, according to authorities.
