New Playground To Be Built In Memory Of Officer Killed In Line Of Duty
The Algonquin Village Board is expected to vote on improvements at James B. Wood Park and Holder Park during its Tuesday meeting.

ALGONQUIN, IL — The Algonquin Village Board will vote Tuesday on improvements at Holder Park and James B. Wood Park.
The village is proposing upgrades to the playground at Holder Park, 1400 Timberwood Lane, to have a public safety theme, which is meant to memorialize Algonquin Officer Larry Holder who died in the line of duty in the 1980s.
In 1982, Holder drowned after being swept away in a stream while attempting to rescue a man who had also fallen into the stream, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page. He'd been with the police department for six years at the time of his death.
