Coroner IDs Man Killed In Route 31 Crash
According to report, officers located a vehicle off the road, on its side and up against a tree between Lincoln Avenue and Miller Road.

CARPENTERSVILLE, IL — A 24-year-old Carpentersville man killed in a crash on Route 31 has been identified as Ray Altamirano. The fatal crash happened Tuesday near Raceway Woods. According to a report from the Village of Carpentersville Public Safety, the Carpentersville Police and Fire Departments responded to the single-vehicle accident at 12:24 p.m. Tuesday on Route 31 between Lincoln Avenue and Miller Road, where officers located a vehicle that ended up off the road, on its side and up against a tree.
According to the report, fire department crews lifted the vehicle to extricate the sole occupant from underneath it.
The Kane County Coroner’s Office was notified and took Altamirano from the scene, public safety officials said. A witness reported that before the accident, the vehicle was headed south on Route 31 at a high rate of speed.

An autopsy performed Wednesday on Altamirano revealed he died from multiple injuries, according to a news release from the Kane County Coroner’s Office.
The Kane County Office of Emergency Management helped with directing traffic at the scene, as Route 31 was closed up until 4 p.m. while the accident was being investigated by KCART (Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team) and the Carpentersville Police Department.
