Proposed Park Upgrades Include Treetop Bridge, Ninja Course

The village of Lake in the Hills is seeking the public's input on proposed improvements at Larsen Park.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Village officials in Lake in the Hills are seeking the public's input on planned upgrades at Larsen Park.

A preliminary concept plan was recently posted to the the village of Lake in the Hills website and shows several improvements proposed —but not yet finalized — for the park at 700 Creekview Lane in Lake in the Hills. The goal is to create a "premier park" on the east side of Lake in the Hills, which would be built over several years.

  • A sledding hill with a warming center and an accessible ramp and stairs
  • An inter-generational sports play area with pickle ball courts, a ninja course and shaded seating
  • A music discovery path with musical instruments along a path and tunnels covered with vines.
  • A community playground and splash pad
  • An outdoor ampitheater
  • A teen activity center with a pump track, rock climbing area and hammock seating area
  • An island area with a tree top bridge, overlook deck and restored native plantings.
  • An arboretum

The plan was recently presented to the village's parks and recreation department and is expected to come before the village board for review this summer. Currently, village officials are requesting feedback from the publicon which improvements at the park they think are the most important.
