On Friday, drones were used in an aerial search and authorities surveyed local ponds looking for Romero's 2008 Nissan Rogue — with the Illinois license plate CZ64618 — to see if police could find any evidence of it entering the water.

Officers actively patrolled other areas and hotels looking for the teen and her vehicle, and also reviewed license plate readers for any recent activations. Illinois Tollway Authority officials also checked for IPass transponder activations, according to a news release.
