Swing for Kids' Sake - Golf Outing

The 11th Annual “Swing for Kids' Sake” is a golf outing that raises funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County. The format is a shamble (best drive, then play your own ball forward).
Plaques given for the 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place teams. Lou Malnati's Pizzeria, of Lakewood, donates lunch from 11 a.m. to noon. Shotgun start at 12:15 p.m.

Silent auction includes a stay and play package at Tullymore, Bulls memorabilia, Blackhawks memorabilia, Cubs tickets packages, and much more. Hole-in-One contests on all Par 3s.
Calcutta, ball drop, longest drive and beat the pro contests. Dinner donated by Bonefish Grill begins at 6:15 p.m..

23rd Annual Children's Health & Safety Fair
McHenry County College, 8900 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake.
The “Path to Health & Safety" is the theme for the 23rd Annual McHenry County Children's Health & Safety Fair at McHenry County College from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31. Free admission.
Over 1,200 children and adults visited the fair last year, providing families with interactive games and health information as well as important immunizations and physicals before the start of the next school year.
Schedule your child's appointment now (for qualifying children) at the Family Health Partnership Clinic 815-334-8987. Immunizations and dental exams are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Parents should bring their child's updated shot record. Contact McHenry County Health Department (815-334-4500) for immunization information. All services have a nominal fee.
Animal characters, Flight for Life helicopter, Crystal Lake Fire Department smoke house, child ID system and over 40 interactive educational exhibits including door prizes.
Children are issued a card to be stamped at each exhibitor's booth. A completed stamped card can be turned in for a free school supply box and enters children into a raffle for one of two new bikes and helmets.

Free Senior Luau
6 to 8:30 p.m. Main Beach, 300 Lake Shore Dr., Crystal LakeAloha, again to the 14th Annual Senior Luau. Seniors, come enjoy the different dances from each island, the beautiful costumes, as well as Don Ho (Pesi) from the Royal Polynesian Review.
Light refreshments will be served while supplies last. In the event of inclement weather, the Luau will be held at Park Place, 406 W. Woodstock St., Crystal Lake.

“Tee up for Excellence” in Education at the D300 Foundation Golf Outing and Pig Roast – Come for the Golf....Stay for the Pig! Art Behind the Ink: Art Show at Dole Mansion

Change your routine one Friday each month and attend the First Friday Art Show at Lakeside Legacy Foundation in Crystal Lake. The public is invited to enjoy a fabulous time at the Dole Mansion and Arts Park.
The art show encourages guests to view art, mingle with the artists, enjoy music, explore the Dole Mansion, all while enjoying light appetizers and a cash bar. First Fridays are free to attend and donations to the foundation are appreciated.
The Aug. 2nd Exhibit is titled 'Art Behind the Ink' and features the body as the canvas. It is a showcase of area tattoo artists. Guests can also enjoy a free concert by Ken Cooper in 'the Listening Room' at Lakeside Legacy Arts Park.

Lucy's Music: Sessions Series with Night Move

The Raue Center announces Night Moves, its revamped Lucy's Music: Sessions Series. Straight out of Minneapolis, “Night Moves” has a distinctly original concoction. The band’s honey-dipped sound seethes with a kind of down-home tenderness and the arrangements are colossal in shape.

Dog Day Afternoon
5186 Route 14, Exceed Floors Parking Lot, Crystal Lake.
Free. Dog day afternoon party for pets and their people hosted by On Angels’ Wings.
This 3rd annual outdoor event for dogs and their human companions is from noon – 4 p.m. outside On Angels’ Wings Pet Adoption Center in Crystal Lake.
Fun-filled event includes dog training examples, dog baths, pet peddies, custom laser tags pet reader/ intuitive, low-cost micro-chipping, Reiki for dogs or humans, food and treats, games with prizes, Calypso band, raffles and silent auction, and professional portraits of people and their pets by Wendy Veugeler of Cellar Studio.
Several rescues and shelters will join On Angels’ Wings by bringing adoptable pets to the event.
On Angels’ Wings, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity which operates a thrift store in Crystal Lake.

2013 Crystal Lake Night Owl Bicycle Ride
1 a.m. Ride starts and ends at the Crystal Lake City Hall.In collaboration with The Land Conservancy of McHenry County, the McHenry County Bicycle Advocates are again sponsoring a 20-mile midnight bicycle ride through the City of Crystal Lake on Saturday night/Sunday morning on August 3 and 4, 2013.
The purpose of the ride is to promote bicycling as an alternate means of transportation and exercise within the City of Crystal Lake, and to benefit The Land Conservancy of McHenry County. The idea is to have a unique, fun and healthy activity for area residents to experience the streets, landmarks and people of Crystal Lake.
The ride will cost $15 per rider (under age 15 free) or $35 for a family of three or more. Additional information and online registration is available at www.clnightowlride.org. Safety oriented t-shirts are also available for $17 each.
