Woman Dies Days After Huntley-Area Crash: Coroner

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 55-year-old Pingree Grove woman has died following a five-vehicle crash near Huntley Saturday.

The collision happened at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Route 47 and Foster Road north of Huntley, according to authorities. Four people were taken to the hospital following the crash.

A passenger in one of the vehicles, Araceli Almarada-Mondragon, 55, of Pingree Grove, was seriously injured and taken by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where she later died.

Preliminary results from an autopsy show she died from complications of blunt force injuries as a result of a crash.

Another person injured in the crash was taken to Northwestern Hospital's emergency room in serious condition and two others were taken to Sherman hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
