Alsip Man Faces Multiple Felonies In Attempt To Flee Cops On South Side: CPD

The Alsip man is charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding police, that left a Chicago police officer injured.

CHICAGO — An Alsip man is accused of hitting a Chicago police officer and squad car last Saturday afternoon on Chicago’s South Side. William Warrior, 29, of the 12000 block of South Kildare, is facing multiple felony charges of aggravated battery to a peace office, criminal damage to government property, and aggravated fleeing and eluding.

The incident unfolded around 5:40 p.m. Saturday, in the 8100 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when police responded to a report of a person with a gun in the Chatham neighborhood. Responding officers saw someone, later identified as Warrior, who matched the description, get into a Chevy Impala, police said.

Police said Warrior attempted to flee, striking a marked Chicago police vehicle and a Chicago police officer.

About ten minutes later, police caught up with Warrior in the 4100 block of South Indiana in Bronzeville, where he was taken into custody, police said.

The injured officer was taken to the hospital for medical treatment and was said to be in good condition.

Warrior was set for a pre-detention hearing Monday afternoon at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse at 26th and California.
