Dates To Know For The 2025-2026 School Year For Atwood Heights Dist. 125

ALSIP, IL — Where did the summer go? There are just a few short weeks of summer left, until students head back to school this month.

Back-to-school planning has already begun in Atwood Heights Dist. 125 for the 2025-2026 academic school year, with calendars available to help parents prepare their children for a smooth transition into the new school year.

The first day of school for grade 1-8 students is Aug. 19 with the first day of kindergarten Aug. 20, and early childhood starting Aug. 21.

Some dates are subject to change during the school year. We also suggest that you check the Dist. 125 calendar or your child’s school (Lawn Manor, Meadow Lane, Hamlin Upper Grade Center) for late starts, early dismissals, exams, open houses, athletic and school events, as well as your child's school.

Here is the list of dates to know for Dist. 125 schools this school year:

Aug. 19 - First day of school, grades 1-8, 8 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
Aug. 20 - First day of kindergarten; first full day for grades 1-8
Aug. 21 - First day early childhood
Sept. 1 - Labor Day, no school
Oct. 10 - Teacher Institute Day, no school
Oct. 13 - Columbus/Indigenous People’s Day, no school
Nov. 24 - Parent-teacher conferences, 4 to 8 p.m.
Nov. 25 - Parent-teacher conferences, no school
Nov. 26 through Nov. 28 - Thanksgiving break
Dec. 1 - School resumes
Dec. 22 through Jan. 2 - Winter break
Jan. 5 - Teacher Institute, no school
Jan 6 - Classes resume
Jan. 19 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school
Feb. 9 - No school
Feb. 16 - Presidents Day
March 28 through April 6 - Spring break
April 7 - Classes resume
May 20 - Graduation
