Back To School: Cook County Dist. 130 Academic Calendar 2023-2024

BLUE ISLAND, IL — Back-to-school planning has already begun for the 2023-2024 academic school year, with calendars available to help parents prepare their children for a smooth transition into the new school year.

The first day of school for K-8 students is Aug. 23, with a noon dismissal for Cook County School Dist. 130 schools in Blue Island, Crestwood, Alsip and Robbins.

Some dates are subject to change during the school year. We also suggest that you check the Dist. 130 calendar or your child’s school for late starts, early dismissals, exams, open houses, athletic and school events.

Here is the list of dates to know for Dist. 130 schools this school year:

Aug. 23 - First day of school, grades K-8

Aug. 28 - First day of school for Pre-K.

Sept. 4 - Labor Day, off

Oct. 9 - Columbus Day, off

Nov. 20 - Parent/teacher conferences, K-8 half day, no school attendance for Pre-K
Nov. 21 - Students not in attendance
Nov. 22 - Veterans Day observed, off
Nov. 23 to Nov. 24 - Thanksgiving break

Dec. 25 to Jan. 5 - Winter break

Jan. 8 - Teacher Institute
Jan. 15 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day, off

Feb. 16 - Students not in attendance
Feb. 19 - Presidents Day, off

March 4 - Casimir Pulaski Day, off
March 19 - Teacher’s Institute
March 25 to March 29 - Spring Break

April 1 - PreK no students in attendance
April 2 - School resumes

May 24 - Last day of preschool
May 27 - Memorial Day, off
May 30 - Half day for students and paraprofessionals; graduation
June 3 - Last day of school
