21 Field Masses Planned Memorial Day At Catholic Cemeteries

CHICAGOLAND — Chicago Catholic Cemeteries will continue its participating in the national program, “Serving God and Country by hosting Memorial Day field masses. Twenty-once field masses are planned Monday, May 26, at diocesan cemeteries throughout Cook and Lake (IL) counties.

The annual Memorial Day remembrance was established by the national Catholic Cemetery Conference, to honor men and women of the armed forces who died while serving their country, as well as active military and veterans.

On Memorial Day, Cardinal Blase Cupich, of theArchdiocese of Chicago, will celebrate Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, 1185 Algonquin Road, Palatine. The Mass will start at 10 a.m. on Memorial Day.

During the Masses, veterans present will be asked to come forward for a special blessing followed by the playing of Taps.
