Chicago Catholic Cemeteries Memorial Day Field Masses Honor Veterans

CHICAGOLAND — Chicago Catholic Cemeteries will be hosting their annual Memorial Day field Masses at diocesan cemeteries throughout Cook and Lake (IL) counties.

This year, Chicago continues its participation in the national program, “Serving God and Country: A Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes.” The annual Memorial Day remembrance was established by the Catholic Cemetery Conference, to honor men and women of the armed forces who died while serving their country, as well as active military and veterans.

On Memorial Day, Cardinal Blase Cupich will celebrate Mass with the Very Rev. Larry Sullivan at Queen of Heaven, 1400 S Wolf Road, Hillside.

During the Masses, veterans present will be asked to come forward for a special blessing followed by the playing of Taps.
