Firefighters Face Water Pressure Issues Battling Calumet Blaze
Alsip and Crestwood firefighters responded Friday evening to an extra-alarm apartment building fire in Calumet Park.
CRESTWOOD, IL - Crestwood and Alsip firefighters were among those responding Friday night to a top-floor blaze that ripped through a Calumet Park apartment building, displacing several residents.
The fire ignited a complex in the 1100 block of 127th Street, just shy of Aberdeen Avenue. Witnesses said firefighters ran into problems battling the flames due to low water pressure in the block's hydrants, according to a CBS News report.
The number of displaced residents was not specified as of Monday morning, but officials noted that "several" were without homes. All occupants safely evacuated the building, Crestwood and Alsip fire department representatives said.
