ILLINOIS — Has your auto insurance gone up significantly in the past year? Has it gone up significantly several times in the past year?
Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias will host a virtual town hall meeting starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26. Giannoulias is gathering input from south suburban residents to help inform legislation for the General Assembly to consider.
The Secretary of State’s office has launched a statewide campaign aimed at preventing insurance companies from using data, such as credit scores, ZIP codes and age, to charge Illinois consumers higher auto insurance rates.

As part of the Secretary of State’s “Driving Change” campaign, Giannoulias’s office is asking south suburban residents to share their stories about unfair and discriminatory ratemaking practices employed by auto insurance companies.
