First Responders Sickened By Fumes Investigating Suspected Meth Lab In Crestwood Apartment

Four police officers and four firefighters were overcome by toxic fumes while investigating a suspected meth lab in Crestwood.

CRESTWOOD, IL — A suspected methamphetamine lab sent police officers and firefighters to the hospital while responding to Level 2 HazMat incident at a Crestwood apartment complex, police said.

Officers and firefighters responded to a report of a possible meth lab late Tuesday afternoon in the 12700 block of Central Avenue. While inside the unit, four officers and four firefighters became sickened after breathing toxic fumes. They were transported to the hospital, along with the accused meth lab operator. The eight first responders were treated and released.

The person accused of breaking bad remains hospitalized, police said. It is unknown how the person was found or the circumstances of the incident. The criminal investigation continues.
