$1,500 Purse Theft Among Recent Crimes: Arlington Heights Police

The Arlington Heights Police Department report several recent crime incidents, including retail and vehicle theft.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Arlington Heights Police Department reports several recent crime incidents reported throughout the area, including theft and vehicle damage.

Retail Theft

The Arlington Heights Police Department said an unknown offender was reported to have stolen merchandise from Kohl's in the 800 block of W. Dundee Road between 2 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. Thursday, March 7. According to the report, the unknown offender is described as a white female, approximately 30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 160 pounds, with shoulder-length black, curly hair. She was reportedly wearing a black coat, a white, pink and black sweater, and black pants. The offender reportedly hid the merchandise in her clothes and left the business without paying for the items, before being seen driving away from the area in a gray Acura. Police said the total retail value of the merchandise was approximately $36.

Theft

Police reported unknown offenders took a victim’s wallet after the wallet was left unattended at Northwest Community Hospital on W. Central Road, and used the credit card at a store between the hours of 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5. According to police, the offenders used the victim's credit card to make a fraudulent purchase at a grocery store totaling $500. The unknown offenders are reportedly both described as heavyset black males. One of the offenders was described as wearing a dark blue jacket, light colored undershirt, light colored pants, and white gym shoes. The other was described as wearing a dark colored jacket and light colored pants.

Burglary from motor vehicle

Police said unknown offender(s) reportedly entered a victim’s Toyota Highlander by breaking the vehicle's front passenger side window at Heritage Tennis Club, located in the 0-10 block of W. College Drive, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 5. The victim’s Louis Vuitton purse valued at $1,500 was reportedly stolen, containing various credit cards and identification cards.

Criminal damage to vehicle

Police said unknown offender(s) damaged a victim’s 2015 Chevrolet Impala between the hours of 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6 in the 2100 block of S. Tonne Drive. The damage was described as being in the form of a scratches on the vehicle’s driver’s side that extend from the front door to the rear fender, police said. The scratch was consistent with damage sustained from a key or other sharp metal object, according to police, adding that the total cost to repair the damage is unknown.

Criminal damage to vehicle

Police said a victim reported seeing an unknown male white offender approach their vehicle in an angry manner in the Vail Parking Lot, located at 22 S. Vail Avenue at 7 p.m. Thursday, March. 7. The offender, described by the victim as approximately 50 years old wearing a dark colored jacket, reportedly ripped a windshield wiper from the vehicle and threw it into an open field west of the parking garage before running away. The victim immediately called 911, but police said no offender was located.
