ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — An overturned gravel truck injured one person and blocked traffic on Palatine Road for about three hours Monday morning while crews worked to clean up the spilled gravel, Illinois State Police told Patch.

Preliminary reports indicate a tractor truck and a passenger vehicle collided on Illinois Route 53 at the ramp leading to Palatine Road at around 8:15 a.m., causing the truck to tip over and spill its load. Officials said eastbound lanes of Palatine Road were closed and one person was taken to a local hospital with "non-life-threatening injuries."

Troopers told Patch all roadways were reopened by around 11:05 a.m., but drivers on social media reported additional traffic in the area until after noon.
